Inquiring Students

I currently have room in my studio for violin/viola students of all levels and ages! I mainly teach Suzuki method, but I like to accommodate any students with an urge to learn and improve musically! Here’s a summary of my studio, so you know if it’s the right fit for you!

My goal as a teacher is to give my students the tools to have a positive learning experience that is fun as well as fulfilling!

If you didn't get a chance to read my Studio Values, make sure you go back to the "teaching studio" page!

I have studios located in both Provo and Highland Utah! Both have dedicated teaching days. On Monday and Thursday, I teach in Highland, and on Wednesday and Friday, I teach in Provo.

Weekly lessons: Lesson fees vary by lesson length. Half hour lessons are $25, 45 minute lessons are $35, and full hour lessons are $45! To get the full value of your lesson, I recommend practicing at least 5 days a week for the length of your lesson. Students who are consistently prepared can expect to make consistent musical progress! Preparation means remembering to bring your music books, filled out practice journal, and a positive learning attitude to each lesson. If you miss a lesson, make sure to give me prior notice so we can schedule a makeup! Billing is done through Duet, an automated software that will send you a link to pay via credit card or apple pay on the first day of every month. I am also enrolled with MusicLink, a foundation that links low income students with teachers who provide affordable or discounted lessons. To learn more, go to https://www.musiclinkfoundation.org

Group Lessons: A couple times each semester, (I send these dates out in advance via the studio calendar) we hold group classes! During group weeks, there are no private lessons other than makeups for missed weeks. Group lessons prepare students by giving them low stakes opportunities to perform in front of others, extra help with theory, and an encouraging social element! Group lessons are held from 4:30-5:30 on both Monday and Thursday. *Currently not available in Provo due to Studio Size*

Biannual Recitals: Recitals give students an opportunity to execute the things they’ve learned in both group and private lessons! They provide both motivation and a sense of accomplishment to students.

Viola

Viola is a mellow instrument, with a deep, rich sound. Though teasingly referred to as the forgotten middle child, it's a critical addition to any music ensemble.

Since viola is larger than violin, it is especially suited to students who are tall or have large hands. However, students of any size are welcome to learn the viola!

These lesson can be a half hour or a full hour, depending on the current level of the student. Students interested in hour lessons should be committed to practicing an hour for 4+ days each week. Lessons utilize the Suzuki viola books, as well as other materials to help with technique and scales.
